LABELLING FAQs

What are Hippo Blue clothing labels?

Hippo Blue clothing labels are heat-transfer labels designed for iron application. They adhere firmly to fabric when heat is applied and stay put through countless washes and daily wear.

How do I apply the clothing labels?

Applying our clothing labels is a breeze! They're heat transfer labels, meaning all you need is an iron.  Here's a step-by-step guide:

  • Prepare your material: First, ensure that you have a flat, clean surface to apply your label to. This helps the label adhere properly.
  • Position the label: Next, position the Hippo Blue clothing label where you want it on your item of clothing.
  • Cover the label: Place a piece of baking paper over the label. This protects your iron and the fabric from direct contact with the label.
  • Apply heat: Press a hot dry iron onto the baking paper for about 15 seconds. Be careful not to move the iron around too vigorously as this could cause the label to shift.
  • Do not use any steam when ironing on your label.
  • Check the label: After 15 seconds, carefully remove the iron and the baking paper. If the edges of the label are still lifting, repeat the process until the label is securely attached.

And voilà! Your label is now securely attached to your clothing item.

Can I customise my clothing labels?

Of course! We have heaps of cute designs for you to choose from. You can personalise your labels to reflect your child’s unique personality and style.

How many clothing labels come in a pack?

The number of labels per pack can vary depending on the package you choose. Please refer to the product description on our website for specific details.

Are the labels machine wash & dryer safe?

Absolutely! Our labels are designed to withstand regular washing and drying. However, please remember to keep the wash temperature at 30 degrees or less for optimal durability.

Can labels be used beyond clothing?

While our clothing labels are designed primarily for clothing, they can also be used on fabric items like hats or scarves. Just make sure to apply them properly for a lasting stick.

Are the labels suitable for all fabrics?

Absolutely! Our Hippo Blue clothing labels can mingle well with most types of fabric. From cotton and polyester to denim, our labels are designed to adhere well and stay put.

However, just as every child is unique, so too are fabrics. Different materials have different characteristics - some are smooth, some are rough, and others have a bit of stretch in them. These varying properties can affect how well a label adheres.

So, we recommend introducing our labels to your fabric of choice through a small test. Find an inconspicuous area on the fabric, perhaps inside a hem or seam, and apply a label following our easy heat transfer instructions. This will give you a good idea of how well the label will bond with the material. It is important to note that they may not adhere properly to certain materials like leather, silk, or other delicate fabrics.

Why are my Hippo Blue clothing labels coming off?

If your labels are coming off, it's possible that they haven't completely adhered to the fabric. We suggest applying more time and pressure under an iron in 10-15 second increments until the label no longer lifts.
